My kind of town, Chicago is... (o Mi clase del pueblo, Chicago es... )

It's been what seems like ages since I've cataloged my whereabouts. So, this will just be a quick catch all with promises for in depth blogs about the travels briefly mentioned here. For the past two-ish months I bounced around the Midwest with trips to Columbus, Madison, Milwaukee and have been keeping Chicagoland as my "home" base (and have recently taken it a step further by signing a lease in the Lakeview Neighborhood near Broadway and Belmont). But, I'm going to start this catch up with the best thing that's happened since flying back into O'hare. I became an Auntie! To twins! The girls were born May 25, each has ten fingers, ten toes and a ton of hair. Madalyn has a little more hair than Mackenzie, which is the slight difference that can sometimes be used to keep them apart. That is, in addition to checking for the color of polish on their toes. Since Madalyn's name has a "y" her tiny toes have yellow polish, and Mackenzie has pink. Maddie and Kenzie (or Mac) have been home for nearly a month now, and I'm still amazed at how tiny they are. When they were born they were 5.1 and 5.6 pounds, they probably make dolls larger than them. The new family came home from the hospital the day after before Memorial Day, and daddy had one more week of school. I came by each day that first week and got my requisite dose of cuteness, and to help the new mom get some rest. It's amazing how quickly the day goes by with the twins. One minute I'm figuring out how to comfortably hold the two of them at once, the next their dad is coming home (of course that is after a more than few mealtimes and diaper changes). I could gush on and on about how cute they are, and go on about how fun it is going to be to watch them grow, and talk about all the frilly outfits I'm excited to buy (like the tutu onsies already in the closet), but I'll stop for now. However, I can't promise a whole different blog might sprout up about being an auntie.

And with that, here's a brief teaser, in no particular order, about the tales to come about my midwest travels:
* The best guest room a girl could ask for in Columbus
* The search for the perfect Derby hat
* Derby infield nonsense
* The intoxifying awesome that is Cafe Cerqua
* Home-made pizza that knocked my socks off
* Down home, small town fun
* Bridal shower blitzes
* Family Funday Sunday Lupus Walk
* The Elroy Fair

So, come back to read more and keep me accountable.
